    Motor traders involved in the sale of new cars here in the UK will be aware how difficult the market is at the moment. Figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reveals April to have been a disappointing month for the registration of new cars.

    In April 2022 there were 119,167 new cars bought here in the UK with this being 15.8% lower than the same month last year when 141,583 of such vehicles were sold.   4. Drop In New Van Registrations In First Two Months Of This Year

    If you are a motor trader involved in the sale of new vans here in the UK then you may find it of interest to read that the number of new vans sold in the first 2 months of 2022 have fallen quite considerably when compared with the same period in 2021.

    For instance, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the number of new vans registered in January and February of this year in the up to 3.5 tonnes category amounted to 33,731 whereas in the same period last year the figure was 41,234. That equates to a fall of 18.2%.   5. New Car Registrations Rise In January

    Motor traders will be pleased to read that the number of new cars sold in the UK in January 2022 increased significantly when compared to January 2021 according to figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

    In January 2022, the number of new cars registered amounted to 115,087 whereas in January last year the figure was 90,249. That is a big increase of 27.5%. .........read more »


  6. Modest Rise In The Number Of New Cars Registered In November

    Motor traders will be pleased to read that the number of new cars registered here in the UK increased in November 2021 when compared with the same month last year albeit only a small rise was seen. This is the first increase seen in a period of five consecutive months.

    According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), there was an increase of 1.7%. In November 2020, there were 113,781 new cars sold whereas in November 2021 the figure was 115,706. .........read more »

    In May last year the UK was in the throes of the pandemic with many retail outlets closed. As a result, the number of new cars bought in that month was very low so it is not surprising to read that May 2021 has seen a significant increase in the number of new cars being registered.

    According to figures produced by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), in May 2020 the number of new cars sold amounted to 20,247 whereas in May 2021 the figure was 156,737. That is an increase of 136,490 with that equating to a huge rise of 674.1%. .........read more »
