  1. Used Car Sales Drop Slightly In Q1 2019

    Those of you running a business in the motor trade industry, in particular motor traders, will find it interesting to read that there was a small reduction in the number of used cars sold in Q1 2019 when compared with Q1 2018.

    Data published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reveals that the number of used cars sold in Q1 2019 was 2,020, 144 whereas in Q1 2018 the figure was 2,031,661. That is a drop of 11,517 that equates to a fall of 0.6% – only a small drop but nevertheless it is still a fall in numbers. .........read more »

    There is yet more bad news for the new car market here in the UK with the announcement that there has been another fall in the number of new cars built in March 2019.   3. March Sees Rise In New Van Sales

    There is not an awful lot of good news in the motor trade industry at the moment so it is pleasing to see that the number of new vans sold here in the UK went up by a significant level when comparing March 2019 with March 2018 according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

    The sale of all vans up to 3.5 tonnes rose from 59,764 in March 2018 to 66,123 in March 2019. This equates to a significant rise of 10.6%. This news will please motor traders involved in the buying and selling of both new and used vans. .........read more »

  5. Drop In Sale Of New Buses And Coaches

    There are obviously fewer motor traders selling new buses and coaches than there are selling new cars but those of you involved in this specialist sector of the motor trade industry will be disappointed to read that there was a drop in the sale of such vehicles in 2018 when compared with 2017.

    In 2018, there were 7,236 new buses and coaches sold here in the UK. This was a fall of 5.6% when compared with the figures for 2017 according to data published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). .........read more »


  6. New Van Registrations Increase In February

    Motor traders focusing on the sale of new vans here in the UK will be pleased to read that, according to data produced by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), there was a rise in the number of new vans being registered in February 2019.

    In February 2019, there was an increase of 1.8% in the number of new vans sold here in the UK when compared with the same month last year. In February 2018 there were 14,135 new vans sold whereas in February 2019 this had risen by 249 to 14,384. .........read more »

  8. Good News For New Van Sales

    It is some weeks since we have had anything really positive to say about the motor trade industry. Well, figures have been published in the last few days by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) relating to the sale of new vans that make for positive reading.

    It is pleasing to read that in the new van category to 3.5 tonnes there were 22,236 registered in January 2019 up from 20,475 when compared with January 2018. That is an increase of 1,761 with this equating to a rise of 8.6%. .........read more »
